Applied Psychosomatic Medicine
For a long time, medicine was practiced separately in the East and West and based on different ways of thinking. Traditionally, the primary question when making assessments and determining therapies has been, “Is it the body that we need to treat or the mind/soul?” This separation may have made life easier for professionals, but not for patients.
A vast and growing community of medical professionals understands that a psychosomatic approach offers patients significant benefits and healing synergies, yet there are still challenges and barriers to overcome: barriers in terminology, barriers in perspective preservation where the progress lies in perspective sharing, barriers in protecting commercial interests by bringing up by branding conflicting methodological approaches in medicine and, of course, barriers in national languages.
The 2nd Orenda International Psychosomatic Summit acknowledges the challenge and is improving networking in the medical community in order to advance the use of psychosomatic medicine, also known as holistic (integrative, complementary, alternative, psychosomatic, traditional Chinese) medicine, psycho-neuro-immunology and mind-body health.
We look forward to seeing you at the Orenda Summit, the Think Tank Retreat for Psychosomatic Medicine that brings together different perspectives, terminologies, approaches, cooperation, standards and research.
